Illinois Basin mining operations produce high-sulfur coal from the River View, Dotiki, Warrior Coal and Hopkins County Coal mines in western Kentucky, and from the Pattiki mine in southern Illinois. Low-sulfur coal is produced from the Gibson County Coal mine in southern Indiana. Approximately 2,025 employees work in the region's five mining complexes.
The region also operates the Mt. Vernon Transfer Terminal which is located in Indiana.
