Coal Operations
We are the second largest coal producer in the Eastern U.S., with low-cost Tier 1 assets serving utility, industrial, and steelmaking customers both domestically and abroad. From our seven underground mining complexes we produce a diverse range of thermal and metallurgical products with varying heat and sulfur contents, which enables us to satisfy the broad range of specifications required by our customers. Our operations are in the most attractive basins for domestic or export markets, and our products help ensure safe, reliable, affordable and secure power supply for millions of utility consumers.
Royalties
Our Royalties segment is comprised of a growing portfolio of mineral and royalty interests in strategic oil & gas producing regions of the United States as well as strategic coal reserves in the basins in which we operate.
We market our oil & gas mineral interests for lease to major operators in those regions and generate royalty income from the leasing and development of those mineral interests, and generate coal royalty income from mineral resources we own and lease to our coal mining operations.
Other Growth Investments
Through our other growth investments, we are positioning ourselves as a reliable energy provider for the future by pursuing opportunities that support the growth and development of technology and energy and related infrastructure. We intend to pursue opportunities that leverage our core competencies and relationships with electric utilities, industrial customers, and federal and state governments that may create new platforms for future lines of business.
